         <description><![CDATA[The Gulf South Conference announced the fall sport All-Academic First Team selections, and Honor Roll selections for Football, Soccer, Volleyball, and Cross Country. The Argonauts earned six first team selections, and 37 other earned honor roll selections. West Florida was third in the conference with the 43 selections. Only Harding (73), and Ouachita Baptist (50) had more honorees, and both of those schools have football. In fact, Harding had 30 football players, and Ouachita Baptist had 10 football players, so excluding football, the Argonauts tied with Harding for the top total of 43 honorees.]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[The 2007 Volleyball season was full of firsts, and plenty of awards. The season ended with the Argos earning the first coach of the year, and player of the year in UWF Volleyball history. The team set records for overall wins (32) and conference wins (12), and held a top 25 ranking, for most of the season. To cap off the season, Sarah Harrison earned the Argo Award for the player that best represents the UWF Volleyball program, while Luciana Rapach was the team MVP, and Freshmen Kara Gonzalez earned the Most Improved Player Award.]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[When the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) announced the 27th annual AVCA All-America teams for NCAA Division II women's volleyball, West Florida's Luciana Rapach was the only Gulf South conference player to achieve All-American status. The junior from Porto Alegre, Brazil, took the conference by storm in her first season in the league, winning Defensive Player of the Week honors on three occasions, and was named as the East Division Player of the year.]]></description>

Interestingly, West Florida was the higher seed (3rd) than Central Missouri (6th), despite the fact that the Jennies were ranked higher nationally. The Argos received outstanding performances from Seniors Danielle Spitzer and Isabela Gualberto, as the two played their final match in an Argonaut uniform.]]></description>

If West Florida were to win the first round match against Central Missouri, they would play the winner of the West Georgia (27-11) vs. Washburn (34-3) match.]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[A red-hot West Georgia team had an answer for every West Florida attack, as the Argos fall in the conference final by a 30-21, 30-27, 30-19 score . In each game, West Georgia pushed out to a lead, and West Florida had to fight back. In the end, Andressa Marteens and Caroline Schoeneck were too much for West Florida, as the two combined for 32 kills. West Florida Outside Hitter Isabela Gualberto did her part to keep the Argos in the match, with 17 kills.]]></description>

The Semifinal win at Noon today, set up a chance to play for the championship tonight at 7:30 pm. Senior Middle Hitter Isabela Gualberto stepped up big today, and she hit an outstanding .739 (18 kills in 23 attempts), to carry the Argos into the conference finals.]]></description>

Meanwhile, the 25th ranked Volleyball team is hosting West Alabama Friday night for Senior Night, and the team has already set school records for most overall wins and conference wins in a season. Wilhoite set the tone defensively for the Argonauts, helping them to a 2-0 week and an East Division championship. In a 3-0 win at North Alabama, the freshman had an outstanding defensive performance. She contributed 18 digs on the night, and also collected two blocks.]]></description>
