Huntsville, Ala. After blanking West Alabama to nicely kick off the "conference weekend", West Florida Women's Tennis (3-6, 2-0 GSC) returned to action three hours later to defeat one more GSC rival. The fifth ranked, Argonauts, blanked Montevallo (3-5, 0-2 GSC), 5-0. With the result, the Argos earned its third victory of the season, the second one over a GSC opponent.

Playing conference rules, in which the first team reaching five points is declared the winner and the matches still on court would not need to finish, the Argonauts stepped up and quickly got the lead. The Argonauts started off the match dominating the Lady Falcons. In the doubles action, the Argonauts won all three matches without much difficulty. In the first doubles spot, the fifth ranked doubles team formed by Argonauts Suzana Cavalcante (junior/Sao Paulo, Brazil) and Paola Arevalo (senior/Cali, Colombia) defeated the team formed by Lady Falcons Shasta Brown and Dorothy Sherman, 8-1. In the second position, Renata Mattos (junior/Sao Paulo, Brazil) and Tatiana Rodrigues (junior/Sao Paulo, Brazil) defeated Rachel Hartley and Kristi Kelly 8-2. In the third doubles spot, Argonauts Taylor Brewster (freshman/Ontaro, Canada) and Leslie Brown (freshman/Shalimar, Fla.) defeated Terrylissa Abdool and Kelly Vaughn 8-4. to give the 3-0 lead to the Argonauts.

The Argos needed to win only two more matches in order to be declared the winner. The singles action was also dominated by the Argos who did not drop a game to quickly finish the match. Playing in the the third singles position, Rodrigues rolled over Sherman, 6-0, 6-0. Playing in the fourth singles spot, Argonaut Brewster did not drop against Abdool, 6-0, 6-0, to give the Argonauts a final score of 5-0.

The Argonauts improved to a 3-6 overall record, while the Lady Falcons dropped to 3-5. The Argonauts have a tough schedule, in which three matches will be played this Friday, March 7th. The Argonauts return to action at 7:00p.m. CT in Huntsville, Ala., when it will face unranked GSC rival Alabama-Huntsville (3-4, 1-2 GSC). This will be the third GSC opponent that the Argos will face this season.
