Melbourne, Fla.After dropping the first five matches, The fifth ranked, West Florida (1-5) earned its first victory of the season. The Argonauts blanked unranked Florida Tech (4-6), 9-0.

The Argonauts swept the doubles action without having much trouble. In the first doubles spot, the fifth ranked doubles team formed by Argonauts Suzana Cavalcante (junior/Sao Paulo, Brazil) and Paola Arevalo (senior/Cali, Colombia) defeated the 25th ranked duo formed by Panthers Natalia Ramos and Michaela Horvathova 8-4. In the second spot Argonauts Taylor Brewster (freshman/Ontaro, Canada) and Lorena Rebolledo (freshman/Puebla, Mexico) defeated Andrea Madrigal and Nicole David, 8-6 In the third position, Renata Mattos (junior/Sao Paulo, Brazil) and Tatiana Rodrigues (junior/Sao Paulo, Brazil) defeated Annie Brethour/Jelani Reynolds 8-1, to give the 3-0 lead to the Argonauts.

In singles the Argos were too much for the Panthers, and won every single match in straight sets. In the first spot, 3rd ranked third Cavalcante did not have trouble to defeat Panther Nathalia Ramos 6-3, 6-1. In the second spot, 45th ranked, Arevalo defeated Michaela Horvathova 7-6(0), 6-3. In the third spot, 43rd ranked, Mattos, rolled over Nicole David 6-3, 6-0. In the fourth spot, Brewster did not drop a single game against Sarah Collins, 6-0, 6-0. Playing in the fifth position, Rebolledo also did not drop a single game in her win over Annie Brethour, 6-0, 6-0. Leslie Brown made her debut with an Argonauts shirt, and earned her first victory dropping only one game in each set to beat Jelani Reynolds 6-1, 6-1, and give the Argonauts the final point in its 9-0 win over the Panthers.

The Argonauts improved to a 1-5 record, while the Panthers dropped to 4-6. The Argonauts will now return to action on Sunday, March 2nd. The Argonauts will face Barry in Winter Park, Fla. at 10:00a.m. This will be the last of three matches played on a four-day road trip to the Orlando area.
