After a four-year playing career for head coach Tami Cyr, former shortstop Meghan Stastook has made the transition from the playing field to serving a assistant coach for the second season.
In 2005 Stastook became just the second Argonaut to earn All-Gulf South Conference honors four times. She was a second team selection in her first three seasons before earning first team honors in West Florida's 60-6 season. Stastook hit a career-high .353 in 2005, and set career-highs with 16 doubles, 29 RBI and 31 stolen base. Stastook was also named to the All-GSC Tournament Team in 2003 after hitting .429 (4-16) with four runs scored and a home run.
In her four seasons, Stastook helped lead West Florida to two GSC titles, three consecutive NCAA Division II South Region Tournament appearances and a trip to the 2003 national championships.
Stastook is in the top 10 in four career categories. She is tied for ninth in at-bats (695), sixth in doubles (41), eighth in stolen base percentage (.915) and seventh in assists (360). She is also tenth in the single-season record book with 31 stolen bases in 2005.
Stastook came to West Florida after attending Aberhart High School in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Stastook was named the Aberhard High School Athlete of the Year and was the most valuable player in basketball and volleyball.
Stastook graduated from West Florida in 2005 with a bachelor's degree in business marketing. She is the daughter of Les and Elaine Stastook.
