2001

Cindie Corey is in her eighth year as the assistant coach for the Argonauts after a four-year stint as UWF's starting second baseman. In her time with the Argonauts softball team, Corey has earned several honors as a part of a nationally prominent program.

Corey assists in all areas of the job, but her emphasis is recruiting. On the field, she is the hitting coach and works with the infielders.

In 2005 Corey helped guide the Argonauts to a 60-6 record, including a number one ranking. Under Corey's leadership, the 2003 West Florida squad ranked 26th nationally with a .315 team batting average, and 29th in the nation with a .446 slugging percentage. In her first year of coaching, UWF finished the 2001 season ranked 11th in the nation.

Corey made the transition to coaching from team captain her junior and senior year. She received All-Gulf South Conference honors and was named to the All-South Region team. Corey ended her career ranked fourth for all-time games played (261), 10th for runs scored (142), fourth for at-bats (771), 10th for RBI (127), ninth for doubles (31), ninth for home runs (11), ninth for total bases (299), and fifth for stolen bases (68). She also was fifth in the single-season records for home runs with her eight in 1999. From her sophomore year to her senior year, the Argonauts were ranked in the Top 15 in the NCAA Division II, and her senior season UWF went to the National Championships and finished fifth.

In May of 2000, Corey graduated from UWF with an undergraduate degree in Recreation and Leisure Management. She earned a Masters in Health Education with a Nutrition and Fitness specialization from UWF in 2001. She continues to play competitive softball in co-ed and women's slowpitch tournaments throughout the southeast during the summer and the fall.

Corey is from Gainesville, Florida where she played shortstop for Buchholz High School under head coach Deanna Majeski. Her parents reside in Gainesville.
