Box Score

PENSACOLA, Fla. - Audia Sullivan (Kingston, Jamaica/William Carey) tallied a goal and two assists to help lead 10th ranked West Florida to a 4-0 win over Alabama-Huntsville Friday evening at the UWF Soccer Complex. West Florida (7-2-2, 4-0 GSC) improved to 11-0-0 all-time against Alabama-Huntsville. The loss marked the third time in the last four matches that Alabama-Huntsville (5-6, 1-4 GSC) has been shutout.

"We were a little fatigued from a week's worth of training, but we pushed through it and were able to play very well today," said head coach Joe Bartlinski. "Our attack was solid once we were settled into the game."

Alabama-Huntsville stayed with West Florida as the match was scoreless through the first 30 minutes. West Florida finally broke through on a give-and-go between Kelly Anne St. Clair (Casteries, St. Lucia/Lassen College) and Audia Sullivan (Kingston, Jamaica/William Carey College). St. Clair took a pass from Sullivan and beat Lady Charger goalkeeper Samantha Allen for the goal.

West Florida beat the buzzer for their second goal of the half. With 10 seconds remaining, Brandi Adams (Gulf Breeze, Fla./Gulf Breeze HS) set up for a corner kick. Sullivan found the airborne ball and headed it into the net with only two seconds remaining on the clock to give West Florida a 2-0 advantage at halftime.

A pair of Brazilians added second half insurance goals. In the 52nd minute, Marcela Franco (Sao Paulo, Brazil) netted her team-leading sixth goal of the season off of a deflected pass. Sullivan collected her second assist of the match on a pass to Patricia Toledo, who recorded her third goal in the last two matches.

Freshman Courtney Jones (Panama City, Fla./Bay HS) combined with fellow freshman Katherine Tomme (Duluth, Ga./Duluth HS) for the shutout. It was the Argonauts eighth shutout of the season. Samantha Allen and Annika Mehrtens each collected two saves for Alabama-Huntsville.

"We earned a quality conference win tonight," said Bartlinski. "I was very pleased with how the team connected using combination play."

West Florida will complete their conference weekend home stand against Delta State on Sunday. The match will begin at 3:00 p.m.
