CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. - The National Golf Coaches Association yesterday announced the 2006-07 student-athlete and coaches awards for NCAA II Women's Collegiate Golf. The winners were recognized at the NGCA Division II Awards Banquet held in Pensacola, Fla. Senior Sarah Nicholson (Cedar Falls, Iowa / Cedar Falls HS) became the second UWF women's golfer in the brief history of the program to be named NGCA All-American. Nicholson was named to the second team.
Nicholson had an amazing season and career over four years at UWF. She had the nation's seventh best scoring average at 75.85, and fifth in the region. She was a medalist in the GSC Championships, along with being named to the All-GSC First Team. Nicholson posted six top three finishes and eight top 10 finishes in 2006-07.
Her low round score of 70 at the GSC Championships tied a school record. Her 142 through 36 holes, and 218 through 54 holes at the Southern Miss Lady Eagle Invitational were both school records.
Six were named to the first and second teams. Clara Fornella (Montevideo, Uruguay) made the second team in 2003-04. Nicholson was named an honorable mention in 2003-04 and 2004-05.
