PENSACOLA, Fla. - The Gulf South Conference has announced the 2007 All-GSC First and Second Teams, and West Florida posted a conference high four golfers to this year's squad. Three of the five golfers selected to the first team are UWF golfers. Seniors Sarah Nicholson (Cedar Falls, Iowa / Cedar Falls HS), Clara Fornella (Montevideo, Uruguay), and Vicky Jackson (Ft. Walton Beach, Fla. / Ft. Walton HS) achieved first team honors. Freshman Natalia Espinosa (Bogota, Colombia) made the second team.
Nicholson is ranked 11th in the NCAA II with a 75.90 stroke average. She has five top three finishes this year. This is her second All-GSC First Team award, and third total. Fornella has a 77.47 stroke average, and is ranked 30th in the NCAA II. This is her second first team award. Jackson has a 78.33 stroke average. She won the Flagler Fall Slam on October 23-24. Jackson made the second team last year.
This is the first year the All-GSC Teams were selected based on achievements made throughout the 2006-07 season. Previously, golfers made the team based on where they finished in the GSC Tournament.
West Florida prepares to defend their GSC Championship this Monday and Tuesday in Hot Springs, Ark. West Florida is ranked fourth in the country.
