ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. - After the wind and rain beaten first round of the Flagler Fall Slam, West Florida is in sixth place out of a field of 20 teams, 12 strokes off the leader Nova Southeastern. The Argonauts combined to shoot a +43 (331) on Monday at the Slammer and Squire Course taking place in the World Golf Village located in St. Augustine, Fla.
Two weeks after winning her first tournament as an Argonaut Bhavna Shetty sits in a tie for fifth place following a first round +5 (35 42--77). Shetty tied with Daniela Vargas of Shorter College for the lowest score on the front nine.
Meghan Guliksen had the second lowest score for West Florida as the freshman shot a +10 (42 40--82). Tara Steakin (42 44--86) and Rachel Christ (40--46 86) ended the day in a tie for 48th place as they each shot a +14. Natalia Espinosa rounds out the participating Argonauts as she ended the day one stroke behind her teammates in a tie for 52nd place with a +15 (44 43--87).
West Florida will conclude the slam with the final round of action taking place tomorrow.
