PACE, Fla. - West Florida improved on its first day score by 14 strokes, finishing with a team total 640, en route to a first place finish at Bubba Watson Invitational on Tuesday, hosted by the UWF and the Stonebrook Golf Course in Pace, Fla. Four Argonauts finished in the top ten, including tournament winner Bhavna Shetty, as they rolled to a 28 stroke victory.
Shetty's 76 was the best final round score, one shot better than her first day total, which gave her a two day total +9 (77 76-153) two strokes ahead of runner up Meghan Costello from Saint Leo. Shetty hit the only eagle of the tournament, which came on a par 4 during the first day. The Mysore, India Native also hit three birdies and 18 pars during the tournament, which both were second best on the team.
Tara Steakin led the Argonauts in pars (19) on the way to shooting a +15 (79 80-159) good for fourth place tie, while Natalie Espinosa (87 77-164) was tops on the team and the field in birdies (5) as she finished tied in ninth place with teammate Rachel Christ (84 80-164) at +20.
Meaghan Gulliksen was the final team competitor for West Florida and finished in 20th place with a two day total + 29 (88 85- 173). Competing as individuals in the home tournament freshmen Emily Rone shot a +40 (87 97-184) and teammate Danielle Smith shot a +37 (92 89-181).
