SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - Playing in their first fall tournament of the year, West Florida finished seventh in the 18-school field at the Drury Regional Shootout, hosted by Drury College. The Argonauts finished with a two-round team total of +74 (324 326 - 650) at Rivercut Golf Course in Springfield, Missouri, 26 shots behind the first place team Tarleton State University.
After shooting a 324 on Monday, the Argonauts followed with a 326 on Tuesday. Bhavna Shetty led the charge for West Florida also finishing with a + 13, good for seventh place. Shetty open the first day with a round of 76, which left her in eighth place. The redshirt-freshman was unable to improve on her second score shooting an 81, but was able to improve in the rankings to a seventh place tie.
Teammate Natalie Espinosa finished the tournament tied for 19th place after shoot a +17 over both days. The sophomore improved on her first day's round by three strokes for a total 161 for the tournament.
Freshmen Tara Steakin and Meaghan Gulliksen swapped scores on the days both finishing in a tie for 39th place. Steakin shot a first day 84 while Gulliksen shot an 82 and on the second day the teammate swap scores good for a two day total +22.
Rachel Christ rounds out the Argonauts who participated in the regional shootout as she finished in 63rd place with a two day total of 173.
West Florida will continue their fall season by hosting the Bubba Watson Invitational at the Stonebrook Golf Course. The tournament will span across three day beginning this Sunday in Pace, Fla.
