LAKELAND, Fla. - The UWF Women's Golf team is currently tied for ninth place in the 16 team Lady Moc Classic in Lakeland, Florida. Natalie Espinosa and Bhavna Shetty each scored well in round two, to move up the leaderboard. Espinosa recorded a 77, and moved up to 29th place, while Shetty shot a six over par, 78, to move up to 41st place.
Meanwhile, Sandra Changkija, from Nova Southeastern led the way in round two with the only score under par, as she recorded a 71 on the par 72 course. The host school, Florida Southern has opened up a three stroke lead over Barry for the top team score. The Argos are tied for 9th place, and only one stroke behind Wingate and Western New Mexico. West Florida's score of 643 is also only five stroke out of sixth place, which is held currently by Northern Kentucky University with a team total of 638.
Meaghan Gulliksen, who recorded a hole-in-one during round two, is currently in 43rd place with scores of 79-83 for a 162. Meanwhile, Rachel Christ is tied for 54th with a two round score of 166; and Tara Steakin finished the second round with an 85 for a combined total of 168, to place her in 58th place, out of the 82 golfers in the tournament.
The final round will be played tomorrow at the Cleveland Heights Golf Club in Lakeland, Florida. The challenging course has allowed only one individual score under par during the first two rounds, and the leader, Changkija, is at two over par for the two rounds combined. UWF's top scorer so far, Espinosa, is just 11 strokes back going into the final round.
