Argos Gulliksen hits hole in one in Golf Tournament

PENSACOLA, Fla. - West Florida's Meaghan Gulliksen had a hole-in-one on the par-3 ninth hole during first round play in the Lady Moc Classic. Gulliksen's shot was the fifth hole-in-one at the tournament since 2004. After the first round of the Lady Moc Classic in Lakeland, Florida, the West Florida women are in 8th place with a score of 320, just 19 strokes off the lead.

Gulliksen finished the round tied for 28th place, with a 38 and 41 for a round of 79. Rachel Christ led the Argos, with a 38 and 40 for a six over par 78. Two players were tied at 73 (+1), and Christ was five strokes back.

Also scoring for West Florida, was Natalie Espinosa, with a 40 and 40 for a round of 80, which tied for 36th place. Meanwhile, Bhavna Shetty and Tara Steakin were tied at 51st place with a first round score of 83. The top four golfers for each school combine for the team score. The tournament continues on Monday at the Cleveland Heights Golf Club, which is a par 72, and has total yardage of 5,997.

After round one, Rollins College and the host school, Florida Southern were tied with team scores of 301. Barry University was one stroke back in third place with a 302. Nova Southeastern was fourth with a 304, just three strokes back. Lynn University (314), Western New Mexico (315), and Florida Southern's B squad (319) were just ahead of the Argos. Wingate (321), and Northern Kentucky (324) rounded out the top 10 schools. Sixteen teams and 87 individuals teed off to start the tournament.
