Robin Dezarn has written her name into many record books over the past two decades and is now planning on adding a new chapter to her success story.
In just four seasons as the head coach of the UWF women's golf team, Dezarn has built one of the nation's finest prgrams. She has coached one player to the NGCA All-American Second Team and one player was named Honorable Mention All-American. In the 2005 GSC Tournament, one player earned First Team All-Conference accolades, while two made the second team. One golfer has received NGCA Softspikes Division II Freshman of the Year recognition. Dezarn has also had a golfer on the GSC All-Academic Team and another was named the UWF Scholar Athlete of the Year. Dezarn has also coached a golfer to a ninth place finish at the NCAA Division II National Championships. In 2003-04, the Argos were ranked as high as third in the country, and sixth in 2004-05.
West Florida won the GSC Championship in 2006 and finished second in 2005. They finised fifth in the NCAA II South Regional both years.
Dezarn has a long history of winning on the golf course. In 1993, she was given the All Sports Association of Northwest Florida Amateur Award. She was also a member of the winning American Junior Golf Association Canon Cup Team in 1993, 1994 and 1995, as well as medalling 1994 and 1995 in the Florida State High School Tournament. Her senior year of high school she was named a Second Team All-American by the American Junior Golf Association.
In the fall of 1995, Dezarn began her college career at Auburn University. While a member of Auburn women's golf team, Dezarn medalled in various tournaments including the Pepperdine Invitational, the Auburn Tiger Invitational, the United States-Japan Intercollegiate, the Lady Paladin Invitational and the Fripp Island/Hogan Intercollegiate.
Named the 1999 Southeastern Conference (SEC) Player of the Year, Dezarn finished her Auburn career with four school records. She became the leader in career stroke average (75.95), single-season stroke average (74.64 in 1998-99), tournaments played (46) and tied for the most tournaments won (four).
