         <description><![CDATA[Nine West Florida women's basketball players were selected to the Gulf South Conference All-Academic Honor Roll for the 2007-2008 basketball season. Seniors Tara Russ, Laura Davis, Karmeshia Easley, and Renee' Polk led the way for the Argos, while Junior Jessie Ivey, and Sophomores Dominique Boykins, Caitlin Salak, and Amy Drake joined the Seniors. Freshman Kimarie Bock rounded out the league leading nine honorees for the Argos. In fact, the nine selections were the most of any men's or women's winter sport team in the Gulf South Conference.]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[The West Florida Women's Basketball team concluded their season Saturday night at Valdosta State with their sixth straight conference road loss. Valdosta State raced out to a 17-7 lead, and basically hung for the rest of the night. The Blazers had as much as a 19 point lead, and the Argos trimmed it to 57-48, with five minutes to play, but could not get any closer. Valdosta State improved to 23-4 on the season, while the Argos fell to 9-18 on the year.]]></description>

Boykins would end the night with a game high 20 points. Meanwhile, the Argos led 21-17 with 6 minutes to go in the first half, and then the Falcons put together an 18-4 run to close the half and go up by 10 points. After a miss by West Florida, North Alabama tacked on some free throws to win 70-63. Amy Drake led the Argonauts with 24 points, and had tied the game at 63 with a running jump shot with 1:30 to play. Chelsea Patterson had a strong game for the Argos with 16 points and five assists. The Tigers improved to 3-2 in the conference, and 7-12 overall with the win. The key to the win was 24 of 33 free throws made for West Alabama. West Florida was within five points with 1:48 to play; however, the Tigers hit seven of eight free throws in the final two minutes to seal the win. The West Florida defense forced 27 turnovers, while Tiffany Scott and Amy Drake combined for seven steals. In a game in which neither team shot well from the field, thanks to great defense by both teams, the Argos took advantage at the free throw line, connecting on 23 of 30 free throws. Drake hit six consecutive free throws to help seal the win for West Florida, who improved to 8-11 on the season, and 1-3 in the conference.]]></description>

The West Georgia Wolves, ranked 25th in the nation, and coming off an impressive win over the 5th ranked team in the country, presented a big challenge for West Florida. The Argonauts played very aggressively, and awoke from their shooting slum, but it wasn't quite enough, as West Georgia 17-2, and 4-0 in the conference was just a bit too much.]]></description>
