PENSACOLA, Fla. The third ranked West Florida Men's Tennis Team (18-3, 5-0 GSC) earned another victory over a GSC opponent this season by defeating 27th ranked Delta State (7-4, 1-3 GSC). The Argonauts came to the match with the confidence from an thrilling victory over Ouachita Baptist. The Argonauts did not have much trouble to blank the Statesmen 9-0 this Sunday, April 6th at the Ralph "Skeeter" Carson Complex, located in the UWF main campus.

The Argonauts earned the 3-0 lead after the doubles action. In the first doubles position, 13th ranked team formed by Argonauts Eduardo Cavasotti (senior/Florianopolis, Brazil) and Luis Arboleda (junior/Medellin, Colombia) defeated Delta State first duo with a 8-4 score. The 18th ranked duo formed by Argonauts Nicolas Barrientos (senior/Cali, Colombia) and Patrick Bateman (sophomore/Apopka, Fla.) defeated the Statesmen with a 8-5 score. Luiz Bernardi (senior/Campinas, Brazil) and Jose Ycaza (junior/Guayaquil, Ecuador) formed the Argonauts third doubles team to defeat the Statesmen with a 8-4 score, giving the 3-0 lead to the Argos.

In the singles action, with the exception of the fourth position, the Argonauts defeated the Statesmen in straight sets, not dropping more than five games in the match. Ycaza rallied from a set down to defeat Delta State fourth player, finishing the match score at 9-0 for the Argonauts.

The Argonauts ended its home matches season with a victory, and remained unbeaten at home matches this season. The Argonauts earned its eighteenth win of the season, fifth over a GSC opponent to improve its overall record to 18-3 and its GSC record to 5-0. The Argos will return to action on Friday, April 11, 2008, when they face Division II second ranked and all-time rival Valdosta State. The match will be played at 2:00p.m. ET at Valdosta, Ga..
