PENSACOLA, Fla. - After knocking off 14th ranked BYU-Hawaii yesterday, West Florida faced 13th ranked UC-San Diego on Wednesday. West Florida swept the doubles competition en route to a 7-2 win at the Ralph "Skeeter" Carson Tennis Complex. West Florida (17-2) won their fourth straight, while UC-San Diego's (9-4) two-match winning streak came to an end.
After the doubles sweep, West Florida went on to win four of six singles matches. In the first position match, ninth-ranked Dante Bottini (Buenos Aires, Argentina) lost the second set before winning a 10-6 tiebreaker. Luis Arboleda (Medellin, Colombia) lost the first set of his fifth position match, but he recovered to win the second set and a 10-8 tiebreaker.
West Florida will be back in action on Thursday against 20th ranked Georgia College and State University. The match will begin at 2 p.m. at the Ralph "Skeeter" Carson Tennis Complex.
