PENSACOLA, Fla. - The West Florida Men's tennis team improved to 12-2 on the season, with an 8-1 victory over 18th ranked Anderson University, Monday morning on the UWF Campus. Argos sweep the doubles matches, and win close matches at number one singles and number four singles, while Luis Arbodela falls just short by a 6-4, 7-5 score at the number three singles.

In the match against Anderson University, the 17th ranked Nicholas Barrientos defeated Anderson's Jan Schiebler in straight sets, 6-3, 6-0, while 23rd ranked Eduardo Cavasotti downed 29th ranked Philip Pakebusch 7-6, 7-5 in a thrilling match to help seal the win for UWF. The number four singles match between the Argos' Luiz Bernardi and Renato Assuncao of Anderson went three sets with Bernardi winning 4-6, 6-3, 6-2. The only loss for the Argos was at the number three singles.

The match started with some exciting doubles action, as the number two doubles team of Nicholas Barrientos and Patrick Bateman won by an 8-6 score, while the number three doubles match was won by the Argos' tandem of Luiz Bernardi and Jose Ycaza by an 8-3 score. Then, the number one doubles match came down to the final game, which Eduardo Cavasotti and Luis Arbodela pulled out an exciting 9-8 win to give the Argos the sweep of doubles and a 3-0 lead in the match.

The Argos were slated to re-take the court again at 2:00 pm Monday afternoon for their third match in 36 hours. West Florida has now won 12 of their last 13 matches, to solidify their fourth ranked position.
