Rene Grifol has worked with West Florida tennis for the past eight seasons. His coaching experience extends from years of building teams in his 29-year Air Force career. In addition to his full time job of recruiter, personal manager, protocol chief and strategic planner, he coached tennis teams at Air Force bases throughout the United States. He represented the Air Force at the highest level of tennis competition, winning many command doubles titles.
Grifol played collegiate tennis at Valdosta State University. He earned his bachelor's degree from Valdosta State, and his master's degree from Webster University in St. Louis, Mo. He has been a United States Professional Tennis Association pro since 1977, a USTA National Trainer and a USA Tennis Florida Consultant.
Grifol was born in Havana, Cuba and lived in South Florida until he joined the Air Force. He is married and has two daughters
