PENSACOLA, Fla. - Junior defender Nolan Intermoia has combined an outstanding offensive attack along with a solid defensive presence all season long to becoming one of the key players for the No. 12 West Florida men's soccer team.

This past weekend was no different for the Pensacola native, who once again proved his worth by scoring the lone goal for the Argonauts in their 1-1 tie against Sunshine State Conference foe Eckerd.

"I was just in the right place at the right time," Intermoia said. "It was corner kick that was miss-cleared and rolled right to me and I blasted it into the goal. Kind of lucky I have to say."

The team played into overtime but fatigue was a factor and neither squad was about to net a goaled goal.

"Anytime you are on the road and in atmosphere like Eckerd a tie or a win is what you want." Intermoia said. "We felt we had a couple of chances to go ahead and take the game but it just didn't happen for us. I think we are fairly satisfied with the tie."

In the following game, Intermoia only logged 51 minutes in the 10-0 Argonaut triumph against Georgia Southwestern; he has averaged 80 plus minutes a game on the season.

"I give credit to Georgia Southwestern was a competitive team but they couldn't keep up with us," Intermoia said. "We have a good team no matter who is in the game. As long as we are playing to our strengths we can beat anybody at anytime."

West Florida hopes to continue their win streak and maybe even break into the top 10, as they begin Gulf South Conference play, when they travel to Arkansas to play Harding and Ouachita Baptist.

"I know we can keep up this up through conference," Intermoia said. "Any team can be beaten on any given day. But right now we are 4-0-1 in the Sunshine conference and that is a great place to be. We now have to put all the previous games behind us and we are 0-0-0 going into conference play."
