After a stellar four-year career at West Florida, Eduardo Oliveira will transition to coaching in his first season as assistant coach. Oliveira played for the Argonauts from 2003-06.
As a defender for head coach Bill Elliott, Oliveira started 57 of 59 games in his career. In his senior season, Oliveira was named to the Daktronics NCAA Division II Men's Soccer All-America Team. He was the first Argonaut to earn All-America honors since West Florida joined the NCAA in 1995. Oliveira was named the Daktronics All-South Region Player of the Year after helping lead West Florida to a Gulf South Conference title and an appearance in the NCAA Division II National Semifinal match. He was also a unanimous selection to the All-GSC First Team, his second consecutive all-conference honor.
For his career, Oliveira totaled 19 points on nine goals and one assist. He played in 4,431 minutes while only missing two matches in his career.
Oliveira earned his bachelor's degree in exercise science.
2005: Named to the All-GSC Second Team... Helped anchor a defense that posted four shutouts... Started all 16 matches... Averaged 72 minutes per match... Played every minute of four matches, including all 110 minutes in the season-opening scoreless tie at Tampa (8/26)... Held Central Arkansas's eventual All-GSC First Team players Jimmy Nummy and Matt Marlin to a combined three shots (9/30).
2004: Started all three matches...Scored a goal on his only shot on goal against Tampa (8/27).
2003: Started 16 of 17 games... One of the leaders of a defense that posted six shutouts... Scored a goal in the regional win over Eckerd (9/21)... Named to the GSC All-Tournament Team after averaging 85.5 minutes per game en route to the conference title.
Concordia (N.Y.): Played his freshman year on the NCCA Division II level.
