UWF Wraps-up Season Tomorrow at Valdosta State

Feb. 23, 2007

VALDOSTA, Ga. - A win for West Florida (10-16, 2-9) tomorrow at Valdosta State (19-7, 7-4) will give the Argonauts their first road win, and first back-to-back conference victories of the season. The game starts at 7:00 pm CST at The Complex in Valdosta, Ga. It will be the season regular season finale for both teams.

A win for Valdosta State or a North Alabama loss to Alabama-Huntsville will secure the Blazers a No. 2 seed in the GSC Tournament in Southaven, Miss. on Feb. 28 - Mar. 5. West Florida will miss the GSC Tournament for the third consecutive season.

Earlier this season, Valdosta State defeated West Florida in Pensacola, Fla. on Jan. 27. The Blazers won, 70-62, behind Herman Burge's 28 points on 6-for-9 shooting from three-point range, and nine rebounds. West Florida was led by Barry Durosier's (Orlando, Fla. / Niagara Univ.) 19 points. Andy Beauchamp (Miami, Fla. / Florida CC at Jacksonville) had 14 points, and Marcus Grant (Axis, Ala. / Faulkner State CC) pulled down 13 rebounds.

West Florida is fresh off their second conference win of the season on Monday night at home against West Alabama, 85-81.
