PENSACOLA, Fla. - Coming off a three-point loss on Monday to Claflin, West Florida (8-11, 1-5) will look to end a six-game losing streak Saturday against Gulf South Conference rival North Alabama (11-10, 4-2 GSC). Tip-off is set for 2:30 p.m. at the UWF Field House.
North Alabama earned an 89-60 win in Florence, Ala. earlier this season on Jan. 15. Quinn Beckwith led North Alabama with 25 points, including 7-16 from three-point range. Barry Durosier (Orlando, Fla./Niagara Univ.) paced West Florida with 14 points.
West Florida led by 13 early in the second half, but the Argonauts were unable to hold on to the lead in a 65-62 loss to Claflin on Monday. Durosier, who scored a game-high 25 points against Claflin, is second in the conference and 11th in the nation at 23.4 points per game. On Monday, Marcus Grant (Axis, Ala./Faulkner State CC) became the fourth Argonaut to record at least 100 steals in a career. He currently ranks 49th in the nation with 2.2 steals per game.
North Alabama is coming off a 92-88 win over Alabama-Huntsville last Saturday. Milton Nance, who scored 35 points in the win over Alabama-Huntsville, is the reigning GSC East Division Player of the Week. Nance is 14th in the nation at 22.6 points per game. While North Alabama is first in the conference and 12th in the nation at 85.7 points per game, the Lions are last in the conference at 86.5 points per game allowed.
