Men's Basketball vs. Delta State To Be Broadcast on Stretch Internet

Jan. 7, 2008

PENSACOLA, Fla. - The West Florida men's basketball team plays one final tune up game prior to the conference schedule. Delta State is in town for a 7:30 tip off. West Florida currently has the best record in the East Division of the Gulf South Conference. The game will be broadcast on stretch internet, which you can access by clicking on the stretch internet link on the UWF home page.

Tonight's contest does not count in the conference standings, since Delta State is a West Division member of the Gulf South Conference. Hoewever, the game is a great tune up for conference play, which begins next Saturday at home for West Florida. North Alabama is the opening opponent and they are just percentage points behind the Argos for the top of the East Division.

West Florida, 9-4 on the year, is currently the conference leader in team field goal percentage defense, as they are holding their opponents to a low 37 percent shooting from the field. Charles Bouie is a big part of the defense, as he has blocked a conference best 47 shots already this season. Meanwhile, Kenny Holmes leads the conference in rebounding and is in the top 10 in steals. Point Guard Deondre Boynton leads the conference in assists, and is coming off a game with 10 assists against Wesley College.
