PENSACOLA, Fla. - Montevallo shot 64 percent from the field and led by as many as 41 points en route to a 101-63 win over West Florida Saturday at the UWF Field House. West Florida (9-16, 1-9) lost for the 11th time in the last 12 games, while Montevallo (20-5, 9-1) earned their sixth straight win over West Florida.
With Montevallo leading 10-8 early in the first half, the Falcons went on a 29-8 run over an eight minute span. Greg Brown scored 11 of the Falcons 29 points during the run. West Florida was never able to recover as Montevallo built a 57-26 halftime lead.
Montevallo led by at least 30 points for all but 17 seconds in the second half. The 101 points were the most points West Florida has allowed since a 106-66 loss at Oregon on Nov. 30, 1995.
Andy Beauchamp (Miami, Fla./Florida Community College at Jacksonville) led West Florida with a career-high 21 points. Deondre Boynton (Pompano Beach, Fla./North Broward Prep) added nine points, while Tyler Fleming (Navarre, Fla./Okaloosa-Walton CC) contributed eight points. Marcus Kennedy and Greg Brown each scored 21 points to lead Montevallo.
West Florida will host West Alabama on Senior Night on Monday. Seniors Barry Durosier (Orlando, Fla./Niagara Univ.), Marcus Grant (Axis, Ala./Faulkner State CC) and Alessandro Batista (Natal, Brazil/Warner Pacific) will be honored. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. at the UWF Field House.
