PENSACOLA, Fla. - The West Florida baseball team dropped their fifth straight conference game, and now has their backs against the wall, to try to defend their 2007 GSC championship. A five run second inning for Alabama Huntsville, set the stage for the Argos 12-4 loss to the Chargers. Despite three hits for leadoff hitter Kyle Andrews, the Argos fell to 18-27 on the season, and 4-9 in conference play. The game was the first of a scheduled doubleheader at Pelican Park.

Starting pitcher Jon Sintes didn't make it through the second inning, giving up six hits and five earned runs for the loss. West Florida couldn't recover, and dropped the opening game of Saturday's doubleheader. The Argos scored twice in the bottom of the third inning to close within 6-2, but the Chargers got the two runs back in the top of the fourth inning, and coasted to the win. UAH improved to 15-26 on the season, and picked up their first conference win in ten tries.

In the West Florida third inning, Steven Bingert led off with a single, and Kyle Andrews reached on an error. The first Argo run would score on a throwing error, and then after a Brandon Brewer single, Scott Beckwith drove in the second run with a sacrifice fly. West Florida would score a third run in the fourth inning, when Jimmy Boswell singled to lead off the inning, and then scored on a Kyle Andrews single. Andrews would end the game with three hits, a run scored, and an RBI.

The Argos fourth run was scored in the seventh inning, when Scott Beckwith singled home Greg Pron. Pron had walked and stolen second base to get into scoring position. West Florida was successful on four stolen base attempts, but were outhit by the Chargers by a 19-9 margin. Kyle Brown went two for two for the Argos, but was stranded on base both times. The Argos did not have a single extra base hit in the game, while the Chargers had five, including a triple and home run from leadoff hitter Jordan Parker, who had four hits, four runs, and four RBI's in the contest.

The two teams were playing the second game of a doubleheader Saturday night, with the final game of the series to be played Sunday afternoon at 1:00 pm, at Pelican Park.
