Argonauts Finish Successful Season at South Regionals
Dade City, Fla. - West Florida competed at the NCAA Division II South Regionals this morning at the Little Everglades Ranch in Dade City hosted by Florida Southern and Saint Leo. The Argos finished in ninth place out of the 20 team field. West Florida was once ranked as high as 20th in the NCAA Division II.
Dawn Kane came through as UWF's top runner at 24:42 (40th) in the 8k race. Nicole Stanley finished at an even 25:00 (47th), and Kimberly Gallagher came in four seconds behind at 25:04 (50th). West Florida's top five runners finished with 264 points. Gulf South Confernce West Division school Harding won the event with 67 points.
The top four teams qualified for Nationals in Pomona, Calif. on Nov. 19. Harding was followed by Tampa (100), Alabama-Huntsville (101) and Central Arkansas (148). The top five individuals also qualified for Nationals. Arkansas Tech's Aoife Cooke was the individual winner with a time of 21:21. She was followed by Tampa's Allison Macsas (21:28), Florida Southern's Jael Koech (21:34), Clayton State's Allison Kreutzer (21:36) and North Alabama's Emry McKay (21:46).
