West Florida Dashes to Runner-Up Finish at GSC Championships
HUNTSVILLE,
ALA - The West Florida men's cross country finished the day proudly
with a second place finish at the Gulf South Conference Championships
at the University of Alabama-Huntsville's Sharon Johnston Park. The Argos
also named three runners to the All-GSC First Team.
Nationally 5th ranked Harding won their fifth consecutive GSC Championsips with 18 points. UWF ended with 71 points. The top four runners represented Harding, and Peter Kosgei won the race with a 17:50 time.
Michael Padilla recorded the 4th best 8K time in school history, 25:21, which was good for a 5th place finish. Caleb Carmichael put together another strong showing with a 25:57 time. Carmichael landed in 7th place, and Sam Ishee snuck in at 10 place with a 26:24 time. Padilla, Carmichael, and Ishee were All-GSC First Team finishers.
Ramad Hicks just missed the Second Team by two spots. Hicks finished in 22nd and a 27:26 time. Jamie Duffell clocked in at 27:45 (27th). Josh Wyatt was 32nd with a 27:56 time, and Brian Gowin broke the line at 28:58 (47th).
The Argos will run again on Nov. 6 at the NCAA Division II South Regional Championships in Memphis, TN.
