UWF Runs Hard at GSC Championships
HUNTSVILLE, ALA - In a strong field of 16 teams, the West Florida women's cross country team finished in the middle of the pack this morning at the Gulf South Conference Championships at Sharon Johnston Park in Huntsville, AL.
The tournament host and NCAA Division II 12th ranked Alabama-Huntsville edged No.9 Harding, 35-36, and defended their conference title. Harding freshman Kalina Szteyn won the race with a 5K time of 17:50. The Argonauts finished in 8th place with 192 points.
Kim Burgess recorded the top score for UWF with a 20:46 time, which was good for 30th. Dawn Kane was close behind finishing in 33rd and a 20:56 time. Jenafer Pulmano came in right behind Kane for a 35th place finish and a 21:01 time. Naomi Evangelista broke the line at 21:23 (45th), Lindsey Failing was clocked at 21:39 (49th), Summer Forester hustled in at 22:35 (69th), and AnneMarie Saxer tallied a 22:38 time (71st),
