Women Place Seventh at GSC Championships
MEMPHIS, TENN.
– West Florida earned three top-40 places as the Argonauts finished
seventh at the GSC Championships at Shelby Farms. Harding won the team
title for the fourth time in the last seven years.
Sophomore Kim Gallagher
was the highest Argonaut finisher in the 5K race in 34th place with a
time of 20:00. Freshman Margaret Harter finished two seconds behind Gallagher
in 35th place with a time of 20:02. Senior Naomi Evangelista rounded out
the top 40 with a time of 20:13.
Sophomore Dawn Kane
and Freshman Nicole Stanley finished tied for 46th place with times of
20:32. Also participating for West Florida was sophomore Lindsey Failing,
who finished with a time of 20:43. Senior Frency Ramos crossed the finish
line at 20:50. Arkansas Tech’s Aoife Cooke won the individual title
with a time of 17:10.
West Florida will move on to the NCAA Division II South Region Championships. The event will be held on Sat., Nov. 5 in Dade City, Fla.
