West Florida Dominates Argonaut Invitational
Pensacola, Fla. - The Argonauts finished eight runners in the top ten of the Argonaut Invitational 8K race featuring West Florida and Gulf South Conference rivals Valdosta State and West Alabama. West Florida's Michael Padilla scored the best overall time of 27:31. The Argos finished in first place with 18 points to Valdosta State's 70 points and West Alabama's 101.
Caleb Carmichael of UWF finished in second place with a time of 28:03. West Alabama's Wayne Miller finished third at 28:41. Argo runners Brian Miller (4th - 28:45), Sam Ishee (5th - 28-51), Dan Bauer (6th - 28:59), Brian Gowin (7th - 29:09), Justin Dickieson (8th - 29:11), and Jordan Theurerkauf (10th - 29:20) all finished in the top ten.
Valdosta State's Andy Minnicks recorded the Blazers top time at 29:18, which placed him ninth. The race consisted of 33 runners total between the three teams. West Florida improves their 2005 record to 3-0 following their win last week versus Belhaven College.
West Florida hits the road next weekend for the Alabama-Huntsville Charger Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 10.
