Argonauts Open Season With a Victory

PENSACOLA, FLA.: The University of West Florida men’s cross country squad captured the first 17 places en route to a first place finish in a duel meet with Belhaven College on Saturday at the West Florida campus.

The West Florida “A” team finished first with a score of 37. Junior Michael Padilla completed the four-mile course first with a time of 22:04. Senior Caleb Carmichael finished second with a time of 22:23. Brian Gowin (23:03), Brian Miller (23:21) and freshman Jordan Theuerkauf (23:30) rounded out the top ten. The UWF “C” team finished second with a score of 41, followed by the UWF “B” team with a 43.

West Florida will prepare to host the annual Argonaut Invitational next Saturday, Sept. 3, at the Escambia County Equestrian Center in Beulah (approximately eight miles west of campus off of US Alt. 90). The event will begin at 8 am.
