Long Distance Runners Flourish at USA Invitational
MOBILE, ALA - West Florida cleaned up in long distance races at the South Alabama Invitational this afternoon. Dawn Kane and Kim Burgess finished first and second respectively in the 5000 meter race. The Argos also landed four top ten times in the 1500 meter race.
Kane won the 5000 meter run with a time of 19:53.84. Burgess clocked out at 20:05.05. In the 1500 meter run, Summer Forester finished in fourth (5:12.88), Naomi Evangelista crossed the line in fifth (5:15.00), Diana Sitar was sixth (5:15.57), and Jenafer Pulmano landed in ninth (5:21.03).
Evangelista also finished a strong second place in the 3000 meter steeplechase with a time of 12:53.75. She also recorded a time of 2:34.40 in the 800 meter race, which was good for sixth. Sitar finished eighth (2:37.14). Pulmano finished in eighth in the 400 meter run with a time of 1:03.67.
