TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Redshirt freshman Bryn Renda finished second in the women's discus throw event on day one of the 57th annual Florida A&M University Relays, held at the Pete Griffin Track Complex.
Renda's second toss out of four tries went a distance of 36.70 meters, which was nearly one meter further than third place finisher Clinette Moon of Alabama State. Renda finished the one day event in second place only behind Valencia Dorsey of Southern University how threw a distance of 38.24 meters took claim the victory.
Also competing in the same event was redshirt freshman Emily Dulaney who finished in 11th place. Dulaney threw a distance of 27.14 meters.
Senior Amy Baird (Graysville, Tenn./ University of Tennessee-Chattanooga) and sophomore Nicole Stanley (Tampa, Fla./ Wharton), who both participated in the women's 3000 meter run, were the only other Argonauts to compete on day one of the relays. Stanley finished the event in 12th place with a time of 11:54.20 and Baird finished in 14th place with a time of 12:21.96.
The FAMU relays with conclude with a second day of competition tomorrow with a full day of event set to begin at 8 a.m., taking place at the Pete Griffin Track Complex in Tallahassee.
