TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The West Florida spring track season opened with a bang at Florida State's Snowbird Invitational this past Friday and Saturday. Lauren Brooks made a splash by shattering two UWF records.
Brooks returns to the West Florida women's track team after missing the fall cross country season from a semester abroad. She finished third in the 3000 meter race out of 18 runners with a time of 10:44.10. She was also 10th out of 35 runners in the 1500 meter race with a time of 4:56.83. Both times are UWF records. Dawn Kane finished strong in the 500 meter run with a record setting time of 18:56.98. Kane was 11th out of 35 runners. Jenafer Pulmano had an impressive showing in the 800 meter run. She was eighth out of 24 competitors with a time of 2:23.82.
Michael Padilla clocked out at 3:55.04 in the 1500 meter race. Padilla placed third out of 24 runners. Brian Gowin was 13th out of 63 runners in the 5000 meter race with a time of 15:09.45. Caleb Carmichael was 37th with a time of 15:51.42.
West Florida competes at the Disney Relays in Orlando this Friday and Saturday.
