Meghan Eckert Barter comes to the University of West Florida with four years of administrative experience in NCAA Division I rules compliance. At West Florida, she will act as the compliance liaison for UWF's 14 intercollegiate programs. Her daily responsibilities include coordinating, monitoring, and verifying compliance with all NCAA and Gulf South Conference rules and regulations. Barter is also responsible for educating coaches, student-athletes, alumni, and other persons related to the athletic department on NCAA and Gulf South regulations and is the advisor for the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. The 29-year-old Barter, most recently served as Director of Compliance for NCAA Division I and Big South Conference member, Radford University in Radford, VA. Her duties included coordinating the institutions rules education program, reviewing NCAA legislation, monitoring institutional camps and clinics, coordinating the student-athlete exit survey process, monitoring student-athlete employment, preparing requests for waivers of NCAA and Big South Conference policies, and preparing reports for the NCAA and Big South Conference. While at Radford, Barter played a pivotal role in Radford University's preparation for the NCAA Self Study; a process required for the certification of Division I member institutions by the NCAA. She has also served on RU's Intercollegiate Athletic Committee, International Student Advisory Committee, and Academic Advisory Committee. Barter was a four-year starter on the Radford University volleyball team, where she graduated in 1999 with a bachelor's degree in physical education. As a team captain for the Highlanders as a senior, the Tampa, FL product and Bloomingdale High standout, helped lead RU to an 18-12 record and a second place Big South and tournament finish. Barter and her husband, Aaron, reside in Pensacola. The couple have two sons, four year old Will, and one year old Jack. |
